This November, for the fourth year in a row, my two sisters and I walked in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3 day. Over three days we walked 60 miles to raise money for the research and treatment of breast cancer.

For three straight days we kept putting one foot in front of the other. At night we ate soggy, bland food before passing out in our sleeping bags on the COLD, HARD ground. By day 3 our feet were blistered and our legs were screaming. How is it possible that we look forward to this event more than our birthdays, Christmas, and summer vacation combined? I don't know, but we do! We are already signed up for next year!

I can't wait for November to roll around so I can hit the road again with two thousand other walkers! I'm looking forward to seeing some familiar faces out on the trail and eager to meet new people and hear their stories. It's a roller coaster of emotions as we walk side by side with both survivors and family members or friends of those who have lost their battle with breast cancer. The sense of purpose, unity, gratitude, and accomplishment that surrounds this event is completely overwhelming and wonderful and I am so grateful to be a part of it.
