The most critical element of Pilates is to create a mind/body connection, so that without thinking about it the body will move with economy, grace, and balance. Pilates requires constant attention to one's body while doing the movements. Paying attention to movement is so vital that it is more important than any other single aspect of the movements or the method!
Just as every person has unique lifestyle and health considerations, so too does every person have unique strengths and challenges when it comes to practicing Pilates. For this reason, we believe each Pilates session should be personalized to the specific needs of our clients. This is why you will not find "group" reformer classes at our studio and why we limit the size of our Mat Pilates classes to six.
What should you expect from your Pilates session?
Spinal Flexion, Spinal Extension, Rotation, and Sidebending
Shoulder Girdle and Pelvis stabilization exercises
Postural or "core" muscle work
Pelvic floor engagement
SWEAT! when you add deep concentration to the simplest of exercises, you can expect your heart rate and temperature to rise.
