Recently moved to Gilbert from Scottsdale where there are lots of great studios. Tried the others in the area and the level of instruction was just not up to par. This studio is great though- worked with Leslie and Tatum and they are both excellent instructors. I definitely reccommend it if you are looking for a great workout and real attention to detail.

I am 54 and have been doing Pilates about twice a week for over two years, and I am thrilled with how it has helped my physically. I first tried Pilates because I was having trouble with my right knee and shoulder. It hurt to raise my arm over my head and it was painful after playing golf, my favorite hobby. A doctor diagnosed an impingement in my shoulder and recommended therapy that would take one hour three times a week. Who has time to spend three hours a week on a shoulder? As for my knee, I was having pain walking up stairs, it would pop and grind, and it got so bad that I could barely bend down to read a putt while golfing. A specialist said that I had worn down cartilage from running and that my knee cap was not working properly. He recommended that I find a way to build up the muscles around the knee cap.
Pilates has been a miracle, particularly for my knee. Pilates not only builds your core and increases your flexibility, but it works the small muscles around the joints. I no longer have any popping and pain walking up stairs, and there is no problem bending over to read putts. My shoulder also is much better.
I have found three additional benefits of Pilates. First, while I have not lost any weight, which is not my goal for Pilates, my waste size is smaller. People regularly ask me if I am losing weight. Second, my core muscles are stronger. This not only provides me with better posture, but it has reduced some lower back pain that I was experiencing. Finally, I can hit the golf ball farther now that I have a stronger core and more flexibility. All told, my golf game is the best it has ever been, and I don’t finish in pain.
Part of the success of any workout routine resides in the efforts put forth by the trainer and the trainee. In my case, Leslie Turner has been tremendous. She is very knowledgeable about Pilates and human motivation. She changes my routine as needed and knows just how to push my workout buttons.
